Scripting for retention without sounding scripted.
A script is not a cage. Done right, it holds attention and still sounds like you talking.

People resist scripting because they have seen it go wrong: the stiff delivery, the words that clearly belong on a page and not in a mouth. So they wing it instead, and pay for it in rambling openings and videos that never quite get to the point. Both problems have the same fix, and it is not choosing between them.
Script the structure, not the sentences. Decide the promise, the order of the points, and the payoff before you record. That is the part that holds retention. Then let the actual words come out the way you would say them, in the moment. You are not memorising a paragraph. You are following a map.
The one part worth writing word for word is the opening. The first line does too much work to leave to chance: it makes the promise, and a weak or wandering start loses people before the good stuff arrives. Write the hook. Improvise the rest against the structure.
The tell of a good script is that nobody can hear it. The video moves with purpose, never sags, always seems to know where it is going, and still sounds like a person thinking out loud. That is not a contradiction. That is the craft itself: enough planning to be sharp, enough freedom to be human.
